Dymatize Elite Whey is one of the biggest selling protein powders in the world and it has been that way for a number of years. But what makes this supplement so popular, why do so many prefer it over everything else on the market and are there are downsides?
We’ve picked it apart and in this Dymatize Elite Whey review we’ll answer those questions. So, is Dymatize Elite Whey going to get the sort of praise that we gave ON Gold Standard (praise that we don’t always give) or is it going to be more like CB1 Weight Gainer and other products that just have not hit the mark for us?
Dymatize Elite Whey Review: Ingredients and Nutrition
There are 140 caries per serving of Dymatize Elite Whey, with 25 grams of protein in each scoop. This is slightly more in both cases than ON and there is also around a quarter of your RDA of cholesterol, whereas ON has just a tenth. There is 20% RDA of calcium and 6% of iron, but nothing else of note. That’s actually a good thing, as you don’t want a protein powder causing you to overload on vitamins you’re already getting elsewhere.
Each scoop of Dymatize Elite Whey also contain 5.5 grams of BCAAs, with 2.7 grams of Leucine. The ingredients themselves include a mixture of quality whey proteins, followed by flavorings, stabilizers and sweeteners.
Dymatize Elite Whey Review: Taste and Mixability
The taste of some Dymatize Elite Whey flavors can be very sweet, much more so than any other protein powder we have tasted. There are some good things to this, because if you get the right flavor and have a sweet tooth, then you will look forward to drinking your shake and will enjoy every last drop.
However, if you get the wrong flavor or don’t have a strong preference for sweet stuff, then you may be put off, as so many other users have been. There have been concerns over the excessive use of sweeteners, which seems to be based on the taste. We get this, as it does have that taste and excessive use of sweeteners is a concern. But it seems like they have only used stevia, which is not a big worry.
As far as mixing goes, it blends very easily and is very smooth, just as you would expect from a top product like this. It’s also 100% whey, combing concentrate and isolate, so it should be absorbed nice and quickly as well.
Dymatize Elite Whey: Best Flavors
We have tried many different flavors, some were great, some…less so. The Cookies & Cream is okay, much better than ON’s Cookies & Cream, and they also do well with the chocolate flavors. However, everyone’s favorite around the You-Reviews office was Snickdoodle, with one vote for Vanilla Cupcake.
There are many different flavors to try and as is usually the case, the chocolate based ones get the most praise. These can be subtle, or they can be sweet. If you want something very chocolatey and sweet, try Chocolate Cake Batter mix. Sweet-toothed chocolate lovers will adore it.
Dymatize Elite Whey Review: Price
Dymatize Elite Whey is reasonably priced. It is far from the cheapest protein powder on the market, but it’s not the most expensive. You will pay around $1.20 per serving when you order some of the smaller sizes. If you order the bigger sizes then you can expect to pay just $0.80 per serving, which is about the same as ON.
As always, the more you buy the less you pay per serving, but you should look to try it before you buy it just incase it’s not quite your cup of tea.
Dymatize Elite Whey Review: 8/10
This is a very solid product and one we were happy to try. It can be a little too sweet at times and that is going to put many people off, but as far as our Dymatize Elite Whey review is concerned, it wasn’t an issue. We were a little put-off by a couple flavors, but the same could be said for every other protein powder we have reviewed. It’s to be expected and it’s a matter of preference.
Dymatize Elite Whey gets an 8 because it has a solid nutrition profile, it mixes great nad it is absorbed easily. It misses out on full marks because of the additional cholesterol and the slightly excessive sweetness. That’s it. Overall, this is a great product and one we are happy to recommend.
Other Dymatize Elite Whey Reviews
As you probably know, there is not shortage of good reviews out there for this product. Customers love it. They clearly can’t get enough and their reasons are pretty similar to ours. Some have complained of the taste and there are some that say it doesn’t agree with them. But the chances are that they have an issue with whey in general and that the same bad review could have been given to any other product if they had tried them instead of Dymatize Elite Whey.
There are also reviews that complain about the lack of gains from Dymatize Elite Whey. But this is a protein powder. It is not going to do all of the hard work for you and you can’t expect to get gains just by drinking it a few times a day.
Dymatize Elite Whey vs ON Gold Standard
In terms of taste, there are Dymatize Elite Whey flavors that we prefer to ON Gold Standard. They are sweeter and when you mix them with milk you get an unbeatable flavor that tastes just like a milkshake. However, this sweetness is part of the issue and it also makes it difficult to mix this with greens and other superfood supplements (Green Tea Extracts and other top Sports Supplements included).
Simply put, when you have such a sweet drink and add those green powder mixes, it makes it overly sickly and difficult to swallow. That’s where the subtle sweetness of ON is better and it’s one of the reason it gets the nod in the battle of Dymatize Elite Whey vs ON Gold Standard.
